Undefeated and a 3-Peat? A Look at the Latest Kansas City Chiefs Betting Odds

Now that we’re officially closer to the end of the season than the start, NFL fans are asking one huge question: can the Chiefs go undefeated? The Chiefs (who are currently 9-0) remain focused on the bigger picture. However, it’s undeniable that the main focus point of the 2024 NFL season has now shifted to whether or not the Chiefs can go unbeaten — which no team has done since the ‘72 Dolphins — and ultimately achieve an iconic 3-peat.

The Chiefs remain undefeated after a last-second Week 10 win against the Broncos

Their winning streak (15 games) stretches back to 2023

For the third season in a row, the Chiefs are the NFL’s last remaining undefeated team

The stars certainly seem to be aligning, that’s for sure. And what’s most interesting about this is that the Chiefs aren’t even close to their best. They might be 9-0, but in theory they should be around 6-3. Offensively, they’ve been poor. Defensively, they’ve been excellent. In typical Chiefs style, though, Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs have somehow found a way to keep grinding out results, with many believing that this ability to keep winning will allow them to join an exclusive club with the ‘72 Dolphins, who are probably feeling quite nervous right now.

Kansas City Chiefs: Undefeated and 3-Peat Betting Odds

According to NFL betting experts BettingTools, the current odds with most sportsbooks for the Chiefs to go undefeated and land a legendary 3-peat:

🏈 Chiefs Go Undefeated: +450

🏈 Chiefs Win the Super Bowl: +390

When it comes to going undefeated, no other team in the NFL knows how to play in the months of November and December like the Chiefs, so momentum is definitely in their favor heading into this period. On top of this, the Chiefs defense — with Chris Jones being the standout player — has been superb this season. And now that the offense finally seems to be clicking into place, it might be worth betting on the Chiefs to go ahead and remain undefeated for the remainder of the season.

However, the potential risk is that Andy Reid is likely going to rest players towards the end of the year, as his ultimate focus is winning another title rather than remaining undefeated. If he believes it's right to rest key players, he will, which could see the Chiefs pick up a loss during one of the last few game weeks. Thrown on top of this, the Chiefs still have major running back issues and the likes of Travis Kelce aren’t getting any younger, so there could be some potential roadblocks coming pretty soon.

The current betting odds ultimately reflect the fact that the Chiefs are much more likely to win another Super Bowl and secure a 3-peat than go the regular season undefeated. If the Chiefs do once again make it to the Super Bowl, as almost everyone expects them to do, then it won’t be a shock to see them win it. But the Lions, Ravens, and 49ers all pose a major risk to the Chiefs’ 3-peat hopes, so nothing is guaranteed. The Lions in particular look most likely to stop the Chiefs, having just won against the Texans despite Jared Goff throwing 5 INTs.

‘Finding a Way to Win’ — The Chiefs Brand

If ‘finding a way to win’ applies to any NFL team over the past five years, it’s the Chiefs. The franchise has had an excellent record for half a decade and is currently halfway there to an undefeated season. On paper, the idea of this team staying undefeated is nuts. Somehow, though, they might just pull it off. And for those who think the Chiefs can’t go 17-0, don’t be surprised to see them find a way to do it by the skin of their teeth, even if they have to rest a few players and the offense fails to stay consistent.

Many people in the media, including Stephen A Smith over at ESPN, are doubtful that the Chiefs can do it. This past week, Smith said what many appear to be thinking:

“But to go the whole season undefeated [...] you ain’t going to have one ‘off’ week? I’m not going to believe that.”

One thing for sure is that the Chiefs won’t want to go down the path that the New England Patriots did back in 2007. The Patriots achieved a perfect 16-0 regular season record and everything was in place for them to go down in history by winning Super Bowl XLII, but they ultimately lost 17-14 to the Giants. The last thing the Chiefs need is to go down in history as the franchise that fumbled an undefeated streak and 3-peat, which is why you can expect them to go all out over the coming game weeks.

Summary

Will the Chiefs win Super Bowl LIX in 2025? The odds say yes. But whether they can go undefeated along the way is a much tougher question, as it’s near impossible to have a perfect season in the NFL, one of the most competitive sports leagues of all time. There’s a strong chance that the Chiefs will indeed slip up at some point, especially if Andy Reid makes the call to rest some players in the final few weeks. But whatever happens, most fans do want to see the Chiefs make history with a 3-peat, which would solidify them as one of the best NFL teams of all time.
